What To Wear On Holiday In 2013
"India's top resort wear designers point to sarinis and salwar jumpsuits."
Dayal has laid claim to the sarini, the sari’s naughty young cousin,
worn with a pair of hot pants instead of the standard ghagra. Designed
to show off legs while still championing traditional weaves. This "is the model of Indian resort
” Dayal says.
The Kolkata duo try their best not to take fashion too seriously. Case in point: Their befuddled bovine print for spring/summer 2013.
Their one-piece that says it all is an orange organza shirt pin-pointed
by Dev. “It’s versatile because you can dress it up for a formal event
or just use it as a cover-up over your bikini,” the designer explains.
Their summer collection for 2013
was designed for the sporty chic traveller. Nandita settles on an
on-trend organza peplum top that can be paired with pencil skirts or
cigarette pants. “The translucence makes an impact because it almost
looks like the floral print has been drawn directly onto the body,” she
says.
The eccentric designer
loves the jumpsuit for a holiday, offering up his various
interpretations from the mini jumpsuit in black crepe to the salwar
jumpsuit, for the more experimental among us.
The original purveyors of the bikini sari
haven’t grown tired of their sensual creation. “The uniqueness of the
garment is its drape -- it can be worn as a sari, draped around the
waist to make a skirt or even be turned into a jacket by using a belt.
It’s also resistant to sunscreen and body oil…”
